James sits down with C.J. Spotswood, aka the EntheoNurse, to discuss Maine’s new psilocybin services bill, drug interactions with psychedelics, and how the conversation around harm reduction has evolved in the past few years. C.J. Spotswood, MSN, APRN, PMHNP aka “EntheoNurse” is a board certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner with his practice in primary care in central Maine.
A 3rd generation male nurse with 20 years of psychiatric nursing experience, C.J. graduated from the University of Southern Maine, completing his Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and undergraduate nursing degree (BSN) was from the University of Maine at Augusta, one of 15 nursing schools endorsed as a holistic school of nursing. This curriculum included yoga, Reiki, and various other complementary and alternative healing modalities.
C.J. has been researching and teaching on psychedelics for almost 5 years, having presented at the American Psychiatric Nurse Association’s National Conference about psychedelics in psychiatry twice, taught master classes for Psychedelics Today’s Navigating Psychedelics: Clinicians & Therapists education program, co-authored Psychedelic.Support’s continuing education module on psilocybin, and is a past presenter at the Mt. Tam’s Psilocybin Summit.
C.J. presents an accredited continuing education program entitled “Psychedelics in Psychiatry for Nurses” on his personal website.
In addition, C.J. is the author of “The Microdosing Guidebook: A Step-by-Step Manual to Improve Your Physical and Mental Health through Psychedelic Medicine” which will be available through Ulysses Press on March 8th, 2022. C.J. is a member of the OPENurses, The Organization of Psychedelic and Entheogenic Nurses, member of the Psychedelic Medicine Association, and the American Psychiatric Nurse Association. When he is not working, reading, or writing, he can be found spending time with his wife Magen and his daughter Malarie exploring Maine’s outdoors and craft breweries.
